Hringvarmi: Transforming Data into Dinner
At Hringvarmi we are transforming data into dinner and firmly placing data centers at the heart of sustainable communities. We do this with our agri-tech solution that captures low-grade waste heat from data centers and harnesses it into a purpose-built pod designed for food producers and innovators.

How does Hringvarmi work?
Hringvarmi ehf. is an Icelandic based startup with a global ambition, to turn "waste" heat into a valuable resource for food production.

- The company was founded in 2024 by entrepreneurs Justine Vanhalst and Dr. Alexandra Leeper who believe that there really is no such thing as "waste".
- The Hringvarmi journey started with a mission to transform data into dinner and are supporting the data center industry in Iceland to maximise their sustainability. Hringvarmi has since developed and deployed a working prototype, the first data center heat capture solution in Iceland, that creates value from excess warm air that once flowed directly into the surrounding environment and now, flows into our Hringvarmi pods, where microgreens are growing.
- In this journey we realised that our Hringvarmi solution can be adapted for all types of excess heat currently lost from many industries, and can enable food security and local food movements.
